KUDOS, SARA WAICKOWSKI!

Here at the TCGC, we may get riled up about football season, but our core mission isn't finding great tickets to the Swamp (although, if you have them....). Each year, our Gator Club's Scholarship Committee painstakingly sorts through more than 50 (and growing) applications to determine awards. Each year we fund over $20,000 ($1,500 each) in scholarships to these deserving recipients.

Our primary reason for raising money through the TCGC is to afford outstanding area students the opportunity to further their education 'neath the Orange and Blue. We function as an arm of the Alumni Association and fundraise to award scholarships to these deserving students - hoping that their experience will open more doors and expand their horizons.

Clearly, it thrills us to the core to receive feedback from our winners: how much they love walking around Turlington, the excitement they have over finishing finals week with great marks, the love they have for November in the Swamp. We take incredible pride in the accomplishments of our local students and love to share in their journey - especially when they are lauded by the University itself.

We'd like to take a moment and congratulate scholarship recipient, Sara Waickowski, a College of Engineering student, who recently was invited to the prestigious Chi Epsilon National Honor Society of the Civil and Environmental Engineering. A rare invitation, reserved for students with the highest marks at the top of their class, Sarah has been offered initiation. We are more than proud of Sarah - a representative of our area doing big things at UF. Congratulations and best wishes for future success!!

No Go for DuBose, Prized Recruit

REPOSTED FROM ESPN.COM

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida receiver Andre Debose had surgery to repair a torn hamstring tendon in his left thigh.

Debose had surgery Thursday at Shands Florida Surgical Center. He is expected to fully recover in four to six months, making it possible for him to return for spring practice.

Debose, a 5-foot-11 speedster from the Orlando area, was coach Urban Meyer's prized recruit in February. Meyer tabbed him as Percy Harvin's replacement this fall.

But Debose injured his hamstring at the Florida state high school track meet in April, tweaked it during summer workouts and then hurt it again on the first day of fall practice. Team doctors initially thought it was just a pulled muscle, but tests later revealed a tear.

Here On Rocky Top...

Wow.

So this is what happens in Rocky Top, Tennessee.

That's all we really have to say when looking at this photo of the proud and tough University of Tennessee football team. Nevermind the chains, or the orange lamborghini on the practice field, or the fact that their new coach made sure that this photo was taken - all around, this new era of UT football is already a hot mess. A hot mess we need to get past.

This upcoming game has always been a defining moment in SEC shakeout - the Vols have always helped determine the true rank of Gator football in our league. From 4 straight years of crushing Peyton Manning's Heisman dreams to a last minute loss from a wayward field goal kick, this matchup always sets the tone. It has even defined our National Championship hopes - anyone remember the rescheduled 2001 game that ended our brilliant run?

We know Lane Kiffin has a big mouth. We know he has given his fair share of ludicrous statements, hoping to reignite the fire behind this rivalry. We don't mind so long as we make his statements null and void. Give us more bulletin board material!

Oh, here, you did. Nice lambo. We, the Treasure Coast Gator Club, thank you, Coach Kiffin, for this excellent piece of pre-game entertainment.
